Can the materials used for the sensory trays be consumed by children or animals?

We make every effort to ensure that the equipment, materials and food items/ingredients used during our play sessions are edible / non-toxic / hypoallergenic and safe. However, it is advised that all materials and food items should not be consumed.

What are the different types of sensory trays?

We offer a variety of sensory trays (such as rainbow rice & spaghetti, moonsand, water stations, volcanos, etc) and we strongly encourage children to engage with and explore all trays.

Question 3

What do children need to wear or bring along to the sensory play sessions?

Accepted Answer

We recommend that your child wears comfortable and appropriate clothing for messy play, as clothing items will get dirty and possibly stained. We also recommend that parents wear comfortable clothing as they might get messed as well. We suggest bringing along an extra change of clothes for your child.

Playful Senses Terms & Conditions

For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions:
· “Attendees” and “Participants” refers to any person that attends and / or participates in a play session. For example: parents/guardians/guests/child/children
· “Adults” refer to the parents/guardians whom are responsible for the Participants

General Terms and Conditions:
1.     Adults are solely responsible for the care and safety of their child/children during a Playful Senses play session. It is not permitted, under any circumstances, to leave a child/children unattended during a Playful Senses play session.
2.     Playful Senses will not be held liable for any loss, damage, marks, or stains to personal belongings (including but not limited to clothing) during a play session. It is recommended that all Participants wear appropriate clothing for the play session.
3.     Playful Senses will not be held liable for any injuries, deaths, accidents, allergic reactions, or illnesses sustained by Participants while using or coming into contact with any equipment, materials, or food items during the play session. Prior to attending a Playful Senses play session, Adults must inform Playful Senses of any allergies or medical conditions that their child/children may have.
4.     It is the sole responsibility of the Adult to supervise and ensure that their child/children do not interact with any edible/non-edible items that may cause harm, illness, accidents, or allergic reactions.
5.     It is advised that all materials and food items provided during a play session should not be consumed by Participants, as some products, despite being edible and/or nontoxic, may potentially cause illnesses, harm, or allergic reactions.
6.     We make every effort to ensure that the equipment, materials and food items used during play sessions are edible, non-toxic and hypoallergenic. A full list of items used during a play session can be provided upon request.
7.     Playful Senses staff reserves the right to interrupt a play session or to request that an Attendee leaves a play session if their behaviour is likely to threaten the safety or enjoyment of others or of themselves.
8.     Any leftover or left behind materials from play sessions is discarded and is not kept nor reused.
9.    The play session Booker acknowledges that he/she agrees to these terms and conditions on behalf of all participants attending their booked play session and is solely responsible for communicating these terms and conditions to all participants. Playful senses will not be held liable for participants unaware of the terms and conditions made by another Booker.

Booking Refunds & Cancellations:
1.     Bookings for all Playful Senses’ services can be requested through the website by submitting a “Book a Session” form. Booking requests can only be confirmed via a confirmation email from info@playfulsenses.com. Once a booking request has been confirmed, an Invoice will be issued for payment.
2.     To secure a booking date, a non-refundable 50% deposit is due within 48 hours of receiving the booking confirmation. Playful Senses cannot be held responsible if another event is booked for the same date before payment of the non-refundable 50% deposit is received. The remaining balance of the booking fee is due two weeks before the booked event date. Playful Senses will not fulfil any booking if the full payment has not been received.
3.     Confirmed bookings cannot be cancelled; they can only be postponed or rescheduled to the next available date. Notice needs to be given at least one week prior to the original booked date, or the full booking fee will be forfeited. Please note that bookings can only be rescheduled once, and if that booking is cancelled for a second time, the full booking fee will be forfeited.
4.     Package booking fees will not be adjusted if fewer children attend than initially paid for. For example, if an "Up to 15" package was booked for 15 children but only 10 children will be attending, the booked package fee will still apply.
5.     Party packs/boxes are not included in the package fee and must be purchased separately at an additional cost at least one week prior to the event date.
6.     Playful Senses does not offer catering services or venue hires. It is the responsibility of the booker to ensure that the play session can be hosted at the allocated venue. Playful Senses will not be held liable for any venue-related issues, such as venue cancellation, inclement weather, or session prohibition.
7.     An additional travel fee will be charged for parties or set-ups outside the accommodated radius within Johannesburg or Pretoria. This fee is due in full upon booking.
8.     In the event that Playful Senses is unable to fulfil your booking due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be notified in advance, and a refund will be issued. Alternatively, the event can be postponed or rescheduled to the next available date.

Covid-19 Terms and Conditions:
1.     Playful Senses is committed to follow all procedures and protocol regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of all our Participants while also addressing the potential impact of COVID-19 on our staff and play sessions. However, under no circumstance can Playful Senses be held liable for any infections or illnesses, including COVID-19, contracted during a play session.
2.     Playful Senses requests that Attendees do not attend any play session if they are feeling symptomatic and pose a risk of infecting others. Symptoms include, but are not limited to: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, loss of taste or smell and diarrhoea.
3.     It is the responsibility of all Attendees to inform Playful Senses if they show any symptoms related to COVID-19 within 14 days of attendance so that the appropriate steps can be taken, including contact tracing.
4.     In the event of another lockdown or imposed government restrictions that prevent play sessions from taking place, Playful Senses will postpone all confirmed bookings until a later date when it is safe to resume. Please note that no refunds will be provided for confirmed bookings due to a lockdown or imposed government restrictions.
5.     Participants over the age of two years old are advised to wear face masks at all times while at a play session. 
6.     Playful Senses staff reserves the right to request that an Attendee leaves the play session if they pose an infectious risk to others.

Waiver and Release from Liability:
By participating in any activities, events, or services provided by Playful Senses, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1.     Assumption of Risk: You understand and acknowledge that participation in activities organized by Playful Senses may involve inherent risks and dangers, both known and unknown. These risks may include, but are not limited to, physical injury, illness, property damage, and other potential hazards. You voluntarily and willingly assume all risks associated with your participation and hereby release Playful Senses from any liability arising from such risks.
2.     Release and Waiver: In consideration of being permitted to participate in activities organized by Playful Senses, you, on behalf of yourself, your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, release, waive, and discharge Playful Senses and its directors, employees, representatives, agents, contractors, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, suits, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your participation in the activities, events, or services provided by Playful Senses, including but not limited to, any injury, illness, or damage to personal property.
3.     Indemnification: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Playful Senses and its directors, employees, representatives, agents, contractors, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, suits, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your participation in the activities, events, or services provided by Playful Senses.
4.     Medical Emergencies: You authorise Playful Senses and its authorised personnel to administer first aid or seek medical treatment in the event of an injury or illness occurring during your participation in the activities, events, or services provided by Playful Senses. You understand that Playful Senses does not assume any responsibility for any medical expenses incurred and that you are solely responsible for any such expenses.
5.     Severability: If any provision of this Waiver and Release from Liability is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue to be binding and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.

By signing up for, booking or participating in activities organized by Playful Senses, you acknowledge that you have carefully read, understood and voluntarily agree to these terms and conditions. You also acknowledge that all sections shall be binding upon your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
